HFAST Crackdown Hyderabad: 97.08% Success in Food Safety Enforcement
Hyderabad: In a massive drive against food adulteration, the Hyderabad Food Safety Task Force (HFAST) has registered 185 cases in just 100 days, seizing over 121.87 tonnes of adulterated and hazardous food items across various city zones. The crackdown exposed widespread malpractice, ranging from chemically ripened fruits to unsafe meat and dairy products.

Major Seizures and Police Action
Authorities confiscated 60 tonnes of chicken waste, 27 tonnes of adulterated ginger-garlic paste, 25.8 tonnes of chemically ripened fruits, and 15 tonnes of unsafe chicken/meat. Other seizures included adulterated kova, paneer, cream, ghee, curd, unhygienic pickles, and chemical-mixed tea powder. In addition, 34 cases were filed against ice creams, biscuits, RO water plants, and junk food outlets.

Extended Action by GHMC
Beyond police intervention, 247 cases were referred to GHMC Food Safety Officers for further investigation. These included 70 cases against cheese outlets, 90 based on public complaints, and others targeting samosa centers, water packing plants, bakeries, fast food joints, hostels, meat shops, and ice manufacturing units. Officials stressed that the operation reflects a zero-tolerance policy towards food adulteration, aiming to safeguard public health and restore consumer trust.
