Addressing a sea of supporters gathered for candidates Amulya Debbarma and Sanjit Debbarma, Chowdhury—a member of the CPI(M) Politburo—tore into TIPRA Motha’s signature slogan, ‘Thansa’ (Unity).

While the term has been the bedrock of Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s regional appeal, Chowdhury characterized it as a sophisticated political smokescreen.

“‘Thansa’ is being weaponized not to empower, but to exploit the simplicity of the Tiprasa people,” Chowdhury remarked. “It is a strategic maneuver designed to splinter the tribal mandate, ensuring that the BJP can navigate its way to power through the backdoor.”
