The breakthrough came following a high-level meeting where Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma provided concrete assurances to address the long-standing grievances of the surrendered militants.
The Three Key Demands Accepted by Tripura Govt.
The TGRDC had threatened to paralyze the Assam-Agartala and Sabroom-Agartala national highways. However, the strike was called off after the Minister committed to:
- Rubber Plantation Projects: Immediate provision of rubber plants under state schemes to ensure sustainable livelihoods.
- Financial Dues: Clearance of the pending ₹23 crore rehabilitation package for returnees who rejoined mainstream society.
- Legal Amnesty: The process for the withdrawal of all pending legal cases against surrendered militants will be fast-tracked.

Restoring Peace and Connectivity
TGRDC Member Secretary Amrit Reang expressed satisfaction with the meeting’s outcome, stating that the decision to call off the protest was made to avoid public inconvenience and foster a positive political atmosphere.
“Minister Debbarma has promised immediate action on our survival needs. We believe this move will accelerate the peace and development process in Tripura,” said Reang.
This development is particularly significant as it ensures smooth logistics and security during the upcoming high-profile visit of the Union Home Minister to the state tomorrow.
