Ayodhya: The alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam has taken a fresh turn as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is expected to name former Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust trustee Anil Mishra in its final investigation report. According to sources, the report is likely to recommend action against Mishra and will be submitted to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by July 15.

SIT Probe Intensifies Into Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Scam

The SIT has reportedly uncovered serious procedural lapses in the handling of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Sources said former trustee Anil Mishra, who was responsible for overseeing temple donations, may be held accountable in the final report.

The investigation comes after allegations of irregularities in the counting and management of cash offerings triggered a major political controversy.

Anil Mishra and Champat Rai Resigned Amid Controversy

Former trust general secretary Champat Rai and Anil Mishra resigned from their respective posts on June 26 after the controversy escalated. Their resignations were accepted during a key meeting of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust> on July 6.

Before the trust meeting, Ram Temple Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri met Champat Rai, during which Rai reportedly raised questions regarding Anil Mishra’s role and the involvement of officials from the State Bank of India.

SIT Flags 70 Suspicious Incidents

According to the SIT’s preliminary findings, investigators identified nearly 70 suspicious incidents related to the counting of temple donations. The report highlights repeated violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs), raising concerns over the transparency and security of the donation management system.

The investigation also pointed to weak supervision, inadequate frisking procedures, and serious lapses in monitoring employees handling cash offerings.

CCTV Footage Reveals Alleged Theft During Donation Counting

The SIT reportedly examined CCTV footage that allegedly shows employees removing currency notes from cash bundles, concealing loose cash, tampering with donation packets, and engaging in suspicious activities during the counting process.

Investigators believe the incidents were not isolated cases involving a few individuals. Instead, the report suggests there were recurring irregularities over several days, exposing major flaws in the temple’s donation handling mechanism.

According to the findings, both cash and valuables donated by devotees were allegedly stolen during the counting process, highlighting the need for stronger oversight and stricter compliance with standard operating procedures.

Final Report Expected by July 15

Sources indicated that the SIT’s final report will be submitted to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office by July 15. The report is expected to recommend further action against those found responsible for the alleged irregularities in the Ram Temple donation management system.

The findings could lead to administrative and legal action as authorities examine accountability within the temple trust and seek to strengthen the security and transparency of donation handling.
