Musi Riverfront project
HYDERABAD — BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) launched a blistering attack on the Congress government Tuesday, accusing it of turning the Musi Riverfront Development Project into a private real estate venture. During an interaction at the Assembly, KTR alleged massive corruption and administrative failures, specifically highlighting the growing panic among residents in Ameenpur and areas surrounding the river.

The Musi Riverfront Project Controversy
KTR questioned the transparency of the ₹1.5 lakh crore project, pointing out that while the government previously notified 3,297 acres impacting nearly 10,000 households, it has recently downplayed the figure to just 1,400 houses in the Assembly. He claimed that notices are being issued to families residing up to five kilometers away from the river, which contradicts the government’s official stance and misleads the public.

Selective Demolitions in Ameenpur
A significant portion of the critique focused on high-handed eviction drives in Ameenpur. KTR accused the Revanth Reddy government of defying court orders and practicing “selective rehabilitation.” He alleged that properties linked to influential individuals, including the Chief Minister’s brother and other Ministers, are being spared while neighborhoods like Hanuman Nagar face aggressive demolition under the guise of buffer zone regulations.

Funding and Accountability
The BRS leader further revealed that expected funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has not materialized due to the absence of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Challenging the government’s financial claims, KTR dared Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to prove the disbursement of ₹57,000 crore in interest-free loans to Self-Help Groups, stating he would resign if the proof was produced.
