The Fatal Oversight

According to local police, the homeowner, Murali, had recently serviced his motorbike. Following a bore-piston replacement, a mechanic reportedly advised him to leave the engine idling overnight.

In a move that proved fatal, Murali kept the bike running inside the house on Tyagaraja Street while closing all doors and windows to secure the property.

Surviving the Night

While Murali and his wife, Revati, chose to sleep on the terrace, four other family members remained indoors:

  • Ramachandraiah (70): Murali’s father.
  • Karthik (15): Murali’s son.
  • Charita & Chandana (8): Murali’s twin daughters.

The enclosed space quickly filled with smoke. On Sunday morning, all four were discovered dead in their sleep. Preliminary investigations by the police confirm the cause of death as asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide inhalation.
