Tripura Cabinet Clears 555 Vacancies, Approves New Ayurvedic & Homeopathic Medical Colleges from 2026–27

Agartala:
The Tripura government has taken a series of major administrative and education-focused decisions, including filling 555 vacant posts and launching two new medical colleges in the state starting from the 2026–27 academic session.

According to official sources, one Homeopathic Medical College will be established at Netaji Subhas State Homoeo Hospital in Agartala, while an Ayurvedic Medical College will come up at Tepania near Udaipur. Both institutions will begin operations with 60 seats each, aiming to strengthen alternative medicine education and healthcare infrastructure in Tripura. The initial campus of the Ayurvedic college will function from Chandrapur under the Matabari Assembly constituency.

Major Recruitment Drive Across Departments

In a significant boost to employment, the Cabinet approved the creation of a new Information Technology Service (ITS) cadre, similar to existing civil and police services. Under this initiative:

  • 220 Group-A posts will be filled through Tripura Public Service Commission
  • Promotions will cover 67 Deputy Technical Officers, 24 Technical Officers, and 90 Senior Technical Officers
  • The Health Department will recruit 100 MPW staff (50 male and 50 female)

Additionally, eight Group-D vacancies in the Home Department and seven LDC posts under the power department’s TREDA wing have also been approved.

Welfare Measures for Students and Security Personnel

The Cabinet enhanced daily boarding allowances for students residing in government hostels from ₹80 to ₹100 per head, benefiting over 37,773 students statewide. A similar increase applies to hostels under the Tribal Welfare Department.

Relief was also extended to Tripura personnel posted in Delhi, with House Rent Allowance for Tripura State Rifles jawans raised from 24% to 27%.
